First Friday October 2012…and other new things
First and foremost, I want to address something HUGE. Downtown is in need of a grocery store. Farmers are in need of stepping stones. The Farmer’s Market on Wednesday is obviously not close to enough of a resource for downtown dwellers. Enter: The Farmery. An NC State grad student started it as his thesis and now, after reaching it’s goal of $25,000 on Kickstarter, it will become a realty as construction begins in 2013. Wow. I’m blown away by the amazing idea and hard work behind this. A round of applause to Ben Greene.
Tonight is First Friday for October 2012 in downtown Raleigh.
I plan on…
- checking out The Blue Hour at Design Box - retailers of Darling & Dear cards (located in district near CAM)
- having some fun on Fayetteville and Hargett Streets
- checking out the new Kindred Boutique on Hargett Street – an incubator for emerging NC artisans – and one of my favs, Epona & Oak in City Market.
Also, new to the area is Hub Raleigh – an office space for entrepreneurs at 711 Hillsborough Street. And another great blog – Indie NC - for the area!
Enjoy your Friday and weekend!
